mdi's Dr. Anand Akerkar
and Alan Schwartz were invited to meet with the US House of Representatives Ways
and Means Committee in Washington, May 2002. Dr. Akerkar, was nominated as the
New York State Small Business Representative by the Republican party was invited
to meet with the Ways and Means Committee to discuss small business initiatives.
Dr. Akerkar and was able to meet with several US Representatives including the
Honorable JC Watts as well as members of the Ways and Means Committee. He was
also able to meet with the former
US Senator and Vice
Presidential candidate Jack Kemp. Both Anand and Alan were able to hear what the
present members of the Ways and Means committee have on their agenda for the
coming year and how they plan to help the small business meet the every growing
challenges before them. The main areas of concern were the Budget, Taxes and of
course Terrorism which seemed to be on top of all agendas.
Dr. Akerkar was also invited to a White House Dinner in June with President
Bush. He will be able to report on that meeting later this month.
