February 14, 2007 News Update – February 14th, 2007Bush Budget has new fees for the medical device and drug industry In an article in the USA Today – Money section, it stated that the new Bush budget will create new industry fees to help finance the FDA, tying it more closely to the businesses it regulates. If the budget is passed, there will be increases in the FDA user fees for new drugs and devices as well as a new fee for generic drug reviews and for and animal-feed exporters seeking FDA certification. An interesting new item for fees in this budget plan is a fee for re-inspections of FDA regulated facilities, including manufacturing plants that fail a first FDA check. If you want to prevent these new fees from get enacted, make sure you
contact your US Congressman to vote them down.
