TELECONFERENCE

"Integrating Human Factors Engineering into Medical Device Design, Development and FDA Oversight" -- October 11, 2000

There will be a live, interactive satellite teleconference for the medical device industry and the FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health. Questions can be e-mailed before the conference to tvquestion@cdrh.fda.gov.

The conference will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at the following times:

EDT: 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Test time: 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.)
CDT: 12 Noon - 2:00 p.m. (Test time: 11:30 a.m. - 12 Noon.)
MDT: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (Test time: 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.)
PDT: 10:00 a.m. - 12 Noon. (Test time: 9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.)

This satellite teleconference, sponsored by the Food and Drug Administration, will help the medical device industry incorporate user needs into their design and development of new medical devices thereby increasing safety and effectiveness, The teleconference will also cover the importance of industry reports of use error adverse incidents to the FDA in order to increase knowledge of use error.

A variety of formats, including interviews and panel discussions with medical device professionals in industry, patient care, and FDA will be presented. Case studies of actual use error incidents will be covered. Viewers will have the opportunity to question the panelists.
